Sumi (Cambodia) Wiring Systems Co., Ltd. has launched its Cambodian operations at Phnom Penh SEZ in a festive groundbreaking ceremony today. Work on the factory is scheduled to begin in August 2011, the set up and testing of the production lines by May 2012 is followed by the grand opening in May 2012.
With a capital of USD 11m, the subsidiary of Japan's Sumitomo Corporation plans to build wiring harnesses in the Kingdom. Up to 1000 employees will generate sales of USD 21m by 2013, with plans to operate the production with 1300 employees by 2014.
During the construction period, workers will be sourced and, if necessary, trained according to the high operational standards required.
